BRIDGEWATER - Monday morning at approximately 11:23 a.m., a 911 call came in reporting a possible drowning in the LaHave River in Bridgewater at King Street Court Park, off King Street in downtown Bridgewater.

LUNENBURG - The country of Norway and the Town of Lunenburg have a deep connection.

SOUTH SHORE – Four young students recently competed at the 63rd Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) held in Fredericton, at the University of New Brunswick campus, June 1-6.

CHESTER - On July 5, the Chester Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at the Shoreham Retirement Village, where smoke was seen coming out of the building.

PROVINCIAL - According to the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre, (NCECC) in 2022 Nova Scotia had the second highest rate of the provinces for people accused of online sexual exploitation of minors, at seven accused per 100,000. Which is higher than the national rate of five accused per 100,000.

FEDERAL-PROVINCIAL - The federal government has created a program that makes exploring the history of Canada more affordable for Canadians and non-Canadians. This program will also give young people the opportunity to explore the province of Nova Scotia at a discounted rate.

LIVERPOOL – At the June 24 Region of Queens Municipality regular council meeting, council approved a motion to submit an application to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board (NSRAB) for an increase to water rates over the next three years.

LUNENBURG – The Lunenburg bandstand, an iconic piece of history, has been closed since May 2024, but work will soon begin.

MODL - The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg (MODL) has joined three other municipalities in asking the provincial government to pause uranium exploration until they can properly consult with Nova Scotians.

MAHONE BAY - Property owners in Mahone Bay will pay slightly more in property taxes this year.

BRIDGEWATER - King Street is one of Bridgewaters busiest streets, but over the past two years there have been delays for people who travel this route.
