ATWELL
Jeannette “Jaye” Marie
February 13, 2025

The family of Jeannette “Jaye” Marie Atwell, 49, of Halifax, share the news of her passing on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Digby, Jeannette was the daughter of Kerry and Joan Wentzell of Middle LaHave.
Jaye grew up on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and was a place she held close to her heart. She lived for her children and was an excellent Mom in every way and was proud of all their accomplishments.
Being an independent person, she was self-employed as a seamstress where her talents and creative abilities were apparent; and she created the outfits for several rock and roll bands. It also helped that Jaye was a fan of rock and roll music, with Marilyn Manson as one of her favourites as well as a love of gothic love stories with Bram Stokers Dracula as her all-time favourite. All those who knew her also knew of her strong internal beliefs and personal faith.
Jeannette will be greatly missed by her husband Michael, children, Julien (Katelyn Dempsey) Atwell, Clayton Park, Mya (Liam Mews), Halifax; her parents, Kerry and Joan Wentzell, East LaHave; sisters, Jenna (Allen Dillman) Wentzell, Crousetown, Josee (Greg Gaudette) Wentzell, Halifax, Tracy Comeau; nieces, Jessie, Addison and Ellie Dillman, Lilly, Emmy Atwell, Isabelle, Aurora, Xavier Wade, Alexis, Ethan Pothier, as well as several close cousins. She will also be missed by her beloved feline companions Mookie, Ludo, Mayhem, Wolfie, Barrington Grey Toe, and Nero (Dr. Tabby).
In keeping with Jeannette’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Celebration of her life will take place at a later date in the summer of 2025. Arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations.
The family requests no flowers, however donations to the family in care of Jenna Wentzell at jenna_massage@yahoo.ca , SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or a charity of your choice in Jannette’s memory would be appreciated.
