BECK

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Deborah Ann (Selig) Beck, at North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia, at the age of 75.  She left us quietly on July 19, 2026, to join her mom, dad, brothers and sisters, her friends, and beloved dogs, Maggie and Katie.

Deborah, better known by family and friends as “Debbie, Deb, Mom, Sis, or Nanny”, was born in Bridgewater N.S. and was one of many siblings of the late Gladys Mae (Dorey) Selig and Louis Randall Selig, of Bridgewater. She is survived by siblings; Janice, Christine (Kitty), Charlotte, Arnold (Arnie) and James (Chummy) and predeceased by siblings Ruth, Audrey, Harriette, Jeanette, Dougie, Wayne, Johnny and Jimmy.

Debbie worked for more than 27 years at the old Dawson Memorial Hospital, as a Food Service Supervisor. During her dedicated career there, she made many friends and enjoyed helping patients.  Everyone she met loved her bubbly personality and infectious smile.

Debbie and John bought a small lake lot in Elmwood, NS, to be closer to two of her sisters, and on weekends to relax and have fun with family. She loved spending time with family and friends at their cottage in Elmwood, for many years. Moving to Auburndale in the early 80’s, her love John put in a swimming pool for her, to replace the cottage. This is where she enjoyed life the most with family and friends. She loved socializing and having fun, which usually ended up with music and her love of dancing. She was also a bit of a traveler, going to places which include; Daytona Beach, British Columbia, England, Scotland, and the Dominican Republic.

Debbie leaves behind her teenage love and husband of 61 years, John David Beck, of Auburndale N.S; her sons, Terry Beck (Stephanie Tanner), of Bridgewater, Troy Beck (Tammy Hawksworth), of Conquerall Mills; and three loved grandchildren, Lindsay Beck and Mason Beck, of Bridgewater, and Brodie MacFarland, of Scotland.

Debbie will be sadly missed by many, especially her devoted husband, who deeply loves her. Her grandchildren will miss popsicles, ice cream sandwiches and weekend feasts pool side, where she was always swimming, cooking, and having fun. Brodie will miss his long phone call from overseas, and his Christmas and Summer visits.

The family can’t express enough gratitude for the staff at the North Queens Nursing Home for the tremendous care and affection they provided to “Deb” during her time there. Their care for Deb and the family was, as John would say, “Was Top Shelf”.    THANK YOU!

She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend, a sister, a dancer, a cook, a coworker, and just an all-round great person with an everlasting smile on her face.

She was special and the glue that kept the Beck family solid with her care, affection, and the occasional wooden spoon on the backside of her two boys when they were not playing fair.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, I.W.K. Health Center, and the Lunenburg Co. Ground Search & Rescue. A Reception in Celebration for 

Debbie will be held Saturday August 8th, 2026, at Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater, from 1 pm - 3 pm, with time to enjoy refreshments, and share condolences and memories of Debbie with her family and friends. Private family interment to be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to
