It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Marlene Rose Breen (nee Clements) age 83, on May 23, 2024, after her brave battle with cancer. Those who knew Marlene knew her for her kindness, her “gift to gab” and her compassionate heart – also her stubbornness, which she claimed came from her Irish/ Newfoundland roots. She was easily recognized by her crowning glory, fiery red hair. She was known as the “sticker lady” for the copious amount of envelopes she mailed to everyone, never missing a birthday or special occasion. Mum was a hard worker; she raised six children as a single Mom, when it wasn’t cool to be a single Mom. We will miss her forever. She was the daughter of Walter and Rose Clements (nee McCready) and her stepmother “Mum” Mary Clements (nee York). In great-niece Sara’s words, “She was the end of an Era,” being the last of the Clements family siblings to depart. She is survived by her soulmate of 30 years, Peter Brenders; her children, Brian (Doris) Atkins, Cheryl (Leigh) Merritt, Timmy (Judy), Belinda (Abe) Groenen, Tyler (Tammy) Costen; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Donnie, who tragically died in 1984, and previous husband, Donald Breen. The family requests, in the memory of their Mother, that you do an act of kindness.
