With thanks for a beautiful life and love among us, the family of Juanita Elizabeth Conrad, 86, of Harbour View Haven, Lunenburg, and formerly of Bridgewater, announce her passing on Friday, January 16, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Middlewood, she was a daughter of Lloyd and Gladys (Rafuse) Slauenwhite.
Juanita loved her family and enjoyed many treasured times with them. Her warm smile and kind spirit endeared her to many. She was an excellent cook and was always willing to try new recipes, adding her own touch of ingredients to give that special taste. Her cakes, pies and cookies were enjoyed by so many.
Juanita also loved gardening and enjoyed the brightness of her many flowers which adorned her yard, covering as much space, if not more, than the grass present there. Generous with her time, she volunteered in the community. Juanita was a faithful member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rose Bay, enjoying her time as a Sunday School teacher during those years. She was also a founding member of the Riverport and District Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Bridgewater Branch 24 Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary.
Juanita is survived by her children, Annette (William), Rose Bay, Tina (Bruce), Guelph, ON., Ross, Bridgewater, Sherman, Whynott’s Settlement, David (Anne Louise), Riverport; grandchildren, Christopher, Nicolas, Tyler, Tiffany, Jessica, Tyson; great grandchildren, Derrick, Avery, Buckley and Kalix; brothers, Carmen (Ann), Hebbville, Kevin (Donna), Victoria, B.C., Vincent (Nancy), Lower LaHave; sisters-in-law, Brenda, Audrey, Doreen and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, Juanita was predeceased by her husband, Edward; grandchildren, Jennifer, and Jeffrey; a sister, Sharon; brothers, Lewis, Malcolm, Wayne, Brian, Warren, Gary, Myles and infant son, Lewis.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy 3, Lunenburg and from where a visitation took place on Friday, January 23 from 6 pm – 8 pm. A service to celebrate Juanita’s life was held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 24 at 11 am, Rev. Willis Ott officiated. Interment in Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery in the Spring of 2026.
Memorial donations may be made to the Riverport and District Fire Department or to Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery, Riverport.
