It is with profound sadness that the family of Eugene Daniel Creaser, 89, Second Peninsula, announces his peaceful passing on October 16, 2025 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
He leaves to mourn his cherished wife of 65 years, Reta (Bezanson). He is survived by his loving sons, Darryl (Annette), Second Peninsula, Kevin (Tamara), Ottawa, and Trevor (Twila), Lewis Lake. He is predeceased by his parents, Paul Creaser and Nema (Zinck); and his brothers Lloyd, Franklyn, and Ernest.
Eugene was one of six siblings born in Feltzen South and after attending a one room schoolhouse in Feltzen South, he attended the Lunenburg Academy. He furthered his education at the NSCC graduating as a Diesel Mechanic. Over the years, he worked for Cummins Diesel in Halifax and Fredericton in a variety of service, sales, and management roles and in 1976, moved his family to St. John’s to join the executive team of Cummins Diesel as Branch Manager. In the mid-eighties, dad returned to Nova Scotia to work for ATMUS Equipment in Truro. In the final years of his career, he worked as the Sales Manager for ABCO in Lunenburg until his retirement in 1996.
After retiring, dad and mom spent several years wintering in Florida and enjoyed trips to Switzerland, Cuba and Jamaica. Dad loved spending time outdoors, including hunting and deep-sea fishing with family, friends and neighbours. He was an avid curler and a longtime member of the Lunenburg Curling Club. He enjoyed his regular crib games and rarely lost. Dad was also the former chairman of the Second Peninsula Cemetery Association.
Dad’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be forever missed by his grandsons, Jarrod (Maygen), James (Jenny), Cameron, Aidan, Zachary (Olivia) and Daniel and his great-grandchildren, Emerie, Cooper, and Julia. He is survived by his sisters, Merlene Gerhardt and Joanne (David) Tanner, as well as his sisters-in-law, Sylvia Creaser and Frances Creaser and a large circle of friends and extended family.
A celebration of Eugene’s life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the health care team at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care dad received in his final days. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to The Second Peninsula Cemetery Association, the Canadian Red Cross, or the V.O.N.
His Legacy and a Lifetime of Memories will be Cherished Forever
