DODGE
Helen Marie
May 16, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Helen Marie Dodge announce her passing at home, Thursday, May 16, 2024.
Helen was the only daughter of Donald Morrison and Mary Fulton (Cameron) Dodge. She was born June 13, 1938, in Armdale, NS; she was a baby sister to her brother Harold Cameron Dodge.
In 1952 Helen and the family moved to Indian Point. Helen loved the village life, and when she finished school, she went to work at the IGA in Mahone Bay. She later worked for many years for Kinburn Pharmacy and finished up at the Tourist Bureau in Mahone Bay.
She was a hard worker who took over the care of her aging parents, tackling house repairs, lawn mowing duties and putting in a large garden. She loved to be outside. Helen was a fixture in the village, and the town and will be missed.
Helen was predeceased by her partner of 50 years, Donald Wentzel; her parents, Donald and Mary Dodge; and her brother Harold.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Nancy Hennessey, Wilmot, Donald Dodge (Karen) Dartmouth, Christina Dodge Meadowvale, Jamie Dodge (Karen) High River, AB, and Carol Melanson (Grant) Spa Springs.
Always a free spirit, she found being ill the last couple of years unbearable; she was not the type of person to just sit around when there were things to be done.
We would like to thank Darlene McKay of Continuing Care NS for her amazing assistance, LPN Shelene Swinemar, and VON Nurse Dejin Palliparambil for their kind care.
Helen did not want any fuss, but we have chosen to celebrate her life. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date.
Please join us in Indian Point, at the Community Hall, on June 13, 2024, 2 to 4 p.m., which would have been her 86th birthday.
