Barbara Ann
January 3, 2026

Age 92, of Western Shore, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
Born in Chester, Nova Scotia, on September 30, 1933, Barbara was the only daughter of Ralph and Amy Wilson.
Barbara began her career with the Bank of Nova Scotia, first in Halifax on Hollis Street and later in Chester, before moving to Western Shore, where she made her home. There, she worked at the Oak Island Inn, where she was responsible for payroll, and later held a part time position at the Western Shore Post Office. In 1991, she began working at the Mahone Bay Post Office, where she remained until her retirement after 25 years of service.
Barbara was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Martins Point and served as treasurer for the Sunday school and cemetery for several years. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and spending time on the ocean. Anyone who knew Barbara would remember that she always had many cats at her home. She was also a regular volunteer at church suppers and a supporter of the Western Shore Fire Department.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Valerie Saulnier of Western Shore; her grandson, Brent Saulnier (Jane) of Calgary, Alberta; and her granddaughter, Bianca Saulnier (Perry) of Dartmouth.
Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Murray Hatt, and her cousin and dear friend, Doris Wilson.
The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 3B at the Mahone Bay Nursing Home for the care and support shown to Barbara. Many of you became like family to us.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Western Shore Cemetery, Western Shore.
