HENLEY

Fayette Henley, caring wife, foster mother, loving aunt, great-aunt to many nieces and nephews, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at her home in Port Medway, Nova Scotia, in her 107th year of life.

Fayette was born on February 18,1919, in Somerville, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth Roy Eisnor, Ester Ramsdell Eisnor and her adoring husband of 71 years, Irving Thomas Henley, of Chelsea, Nova Scotia.

After the death of her mother, she was raised by her paternal grandparents in Massachusetts and then by extended family (Emma Eisnor Slaunwhite and William Slaunwhite) in Chelsea, Nova Scotia. She was baptized into the Chelsea United Baptist Church in 1934 where she worshiped and volunteered with the Women's' Institute for 4 decades.

Before marrying in 1940, she was employed as a bookkeeper at the beverage bottling plant in Bridgewater, NS. After her marriage she continued to utilise her facility at bookkeeping by helping her husband run his trucking business. She was an avid gardener and homemaker and enjoyed sharing her home, billeting various schoolteachers and church ministers.

Fayette is survived by her foster daughter, Linda Henley, of Dartmouth, NS, and many adoring nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly; as well as her geriatric cat, Jillybean. And notably her great-niece, Janina MacNeil and husband, Gregory Clattenburg, with whom she had lived for the past 12 years, at their home in Port Medway, Nova Scotia.

Fayette was a kind and generous soul, with a keen mind who loved God and the world, though she had witnessed many remarkable changes in her nearly 107 years.

A Public Visitation was held Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, from 6 pm – 8pm. A Funeral Service for Fayette was held 11 a.m., Wednesday October 29, 2025, at the Chelsea United Baptist Church. Burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Chelsea. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Maple Grove Cemetery, Chelsea, NS, the Victorian Order of Nurses or The Canadian Red Cross.
