HERMAN

March 25, 1936 – July 13, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Mary Evelyn Herman, announce her peaceful passing on July 13, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Maitland Bridge, as per her wishes.
She was surrounded by those she loved—and who loved her in return.

Born to Nina and George Stewart on March 25, 1936, in what was once known as Brookfield Mines—now North Brookfield—Evelyn grew up immersed in the warmth of a close-knit community filled with siblings, neighbors, and treasured friends. Her stories from Brookfield Mines painted vivid portraits of simpler times and joyful bonds.

On June 10, 1957, Evelyn married George Anderson Herman, beginning a devoted partnership that would blossom into a family who became her world.

She didn’t seek grand accolades; instead, she cherished everyday joys—shared meals, inside jokes, and the comfort of being together.

Her presence wrapped everyone in love and made each person feel at home.

Evelyn found delight in the little things: coloring and sticker books, whimsical roosters that filled her home with character, and tomatoes picked fresh from the vine.

Her heart belonged to the woods and trails, where she found serenity in nature. Hunting trips weren’t just tradition—they were spiritual retreats, full of laughter and stories around the fire.
She was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a beloved presence to many. Her legacy lives on in the laughter echoing through generations, in the tales retold at family gatherings, and in the quiet strength she instilled in all who knew her.

Evelyn is lovingly remembered by children, Debbie (Bruce), Carlson (Suzi), Darrell (Tara Younis), Christopher (Rodney Redden), Colleen (Renate Bennett), 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and her special friend Sandy Robar “Sweet Pea”.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, her husband George; siblings Hughie, Irma, Max and Rhoda as well as her partner Lester Smith.

Private family graveside service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, Pleasant River. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to North Queens Fire Association, Caledonia.

Her spirit endures—in every rooster figurine, in every vine-ripened tomato, and in the hearts she touched with her gentle grace.
