January 17, 2026

March 28, 1931 - January 17, 2026
Alice passed away on January 17 at SSRH after a brief illness.
Until that time she proudly resided in her own home and on her own terms in Chester. Alice was predeceased by her parents Howard and Idella, her sisters Kathleen and Beatrice, husbands Vernon Neaves and Jack Hyslop, her son Skippy Cross, stepson Jon Hyslop, and nephew Howard Feener.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Neaves) Deveau (Russell), sons Kevin D. Neaves and Dwight L Neaves (Teri Cochrane), stepson David Hyslop (Betty Jean Dainard), stepdaughter Elizabeth (Hyslop) Cox (Hal), niece Katherine Hodgins and special great niece, Kim, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alice was fond of sharing memories of growing up with her mother and sisters on the farm in Blandford. After moving to Chester Alice worked from home as a piece work knitter and Tupperware dealer but was most proud of being a Foster Mother. Over the years she provided a temporary home to 38 children many of whom stayed in touch into their adult lives.
Alice enjoyed knitting, rug hooking, quilting, watching the birds at her feeders, and sending and collecting Christmas cards. Alice and Jack liked to travel; first across Canada by train, then road trips in the station wagon and camping in their vans. For several years they were regular campers in the Valley where they made lasting friendships. In her later years she enjoyed taking bus tours to destinations in the US.
Cremation has taken place. Interment at a later date.
