KEIZER
Pauline Hazel
August 26, 2025

After a long life of loving and being loved, the family of Pauline Hazel Keizer, 95, of Centre, share of her passing on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at home.
Born in New Ross, she was a daughter of the late Beacher and Clara (Lenihan) Veinotte.
Pauline grew up in New Ross, moving to Cornwall when she was 16. She later started keeping house in Clearland, Mader’s Cove and then Front Centre where she met her great love, Bernie. They were married for almost 60 years, until his passing in 2011. She missed him so much these past 14 years, but she was fortunate that her son, Robert, was able to stay with her in her home after Bernie’s passing.
Pauline was a devoted wife and loving mother to three boys. The family had a hobby farm and a big garden, and she worked hard, taking care of the garden, preserving vegetables, churning butter, and anything else that needed to be done. She made the best birthday cakes, with a piece of thread, a button, and a ten-cent coin for luck. The family spent many happy times visiting her sisters’ families, Edna in Cape Breton, and Beattie in the Valley. Pauline loved roses and dishes with roses on them. She enjoyed a good game of cards and played 45’s right up until her passing.
Pauline is survived by sons, Robert, Centre, Brian (Dawn), Centre; grandsons, Mark (Kassy), Keizer, Lunenburg, Ryan (Lauren) Keizer, Hammonds Plains; great grandsons, C.J. and Tony; step grandsons, Josh (Sherry) MacKay and their daughter, Ava, Middle Sackville, Alex (Tiffany) MacKay, Hubley; half-sister, Carolyn Bourgone, New Germany; half-brothers, Freddie (Bernadette) Veinotte, Garden Lots, Douglas Veinotte, Blockhouse and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Bernard; son, Richard; sisters, Beatrice, Edna; brothers, Herbert, Murray, Otis and half brother, Earl.
The family would like to thank the Lunenburg and District Fire Department team who responded to the 911 call.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy 3, Lunenburg, where a visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 2nd from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A service to celebrate Pauline’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd at 2:00 pm from the Funeral Home, Rev. Vivian Moores officiating.
