It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Gerald Eugene Langille at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on August 17, 2026. Gerald leaves behind to mourn his wife of 68 years, Norma; daughters, Donna Langille, Wendy LeBlanc (David LeBlanc); sons, Graham Langille (Annette Langille), Jeffrey Langille (Melanie Langille); eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one great grandchild. He was a member of St. Martin’s Anglican Church, a warden of the church and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. After the closing of St. Martin’s, both he and Norma became members in 2017 of Christ Church, Maitland. Gerald was also one of the founding members of the Martin’s River Fire Department, a member of the former Masonic Lodge #69 and a minor hockey coach. He was a carpenter by trade and owned his own business, G.E. Langille Builders, until his retirement. One of his passions were his many teams of cherished oxen. He was made an honorary member of the South Shore Big Ex. He exhibited his prize cattle at the Big Ex for many years until failing health did not permit him doing so, but he never stopped talking about getting another pair of oxen. Gerald loved playing the accordion, attending and playing at local music jams. Even though Alzheimer’s took him and his memory of from his family, he was still able to pick up his beloved accordion and play a tune. Gerald will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. He is now playing with the angels! Rest in Peace. A special “Thank You” goes out to South Shore Regional Hospital, Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and Hillside Pines for all the care given to Gerald over the last several months. The family kindly asks that memorial donations be considered for Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Christ Church Steeple Repair Fund (Maitland) or a charity of your choice. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. Burial will be held at a later date.
