LESLIE

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Bonita, passed away with loved ones by her side on Monday August 31, at the age of 93.Her death represents the final chapter of her immediate Family. Bonita was born in Halifax, NS to the late Walter Ernest and Bessie Georgina (McKinley) Hurst. Bonita dedicated her life with love and affection to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will forever be remembered by those who called her Mom, Gram, and Grandmother. Bonita was predeceased by her husband Allan Leslie, brothers: Walter (Buddy), Donald and William (Bill) Hurst; sister: Aleeta Hurst; nephews: Robert (Bobby), Donald (Donnie), and Patrick Hurst; sister in-law Florida (Lair) Hurst; son in-law Gary Ivany, and childhood friend Joy Smith, Dartmouth, NS.

Bonita is survived by her children: Aleeta Dawn Ivany, Eastern Passage, NS, Janet (David) Duncan, Hammonds Plains, NS, Allan Bruce (Paula Turtle) Leslie, Toronto, ON, Alison (Scott) Hickey, Kensington, PEI, Ian (Jeanne Hawboldt) Leslie, Dartmouth, NS, Moira (Jack) Irvine, Wileville, NS, Heather (Wade) Fehr, Hebbville, NS; nephew: Kevin (Natasha) Hurst, Whites Lake, NS; grandchildren: Sandra O’Quinn and Erin O’Quinn, Leslie Duncan (Mark) Childs and Lindsey (Andrew Brewster) Duncan, Brenna (Liam Fitzgerald) Leslie and Hannah (Gerard Anderson) Leslie, Gavin Leslie and Logan Hickey, Sara Leslie and Amanda Leslie, Emily Irvine and Joseph (Kayla Tremblay) Irvine and Ava Fehr; great-grandchildren: Jace, Drake and Torin Patterson, Sadie and Lucy Childs, Olivia (Livy) Brewster, Gabrielle (Gabby), Sawyer and Jackson Hickey, Bennett Allan (Leslie) MacDonald and Della Rose Irvine; and great-niece: Emerson Hurst.

Our sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff on the Butterfly Cottage Unit for the exceptional and loving care Bonita received during her stay at The Sagewood, Lower Sackville. Our family will forever be grateful for the warmth and compassion shared with us during her final days. Cremation has taken place under the care of T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, Lower Sackville. There will be no funeral as per Bonita’s wishes. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bonita’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Alzheimer’s Society. Memorial donations may be sent directly to the charity. REMEMBER ME

Don’t remember me with sadness,

Don’t remember me with tears,

Remember all the laughs,

We’ve shared throughout the years.

Now I am contented,

That my life it was worthwhile,

Knowing that as I passed along the way,

I made somebody smile.

When you are walking down the street,

And you’ve got me on your mind,

I’m walking in your footsteps,

Only half a step behind.

So please don’t be unhappy,

Just because I’m out of sight,

Remember that I’m with you,

Each morning, noon and night.
