It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Evelyn (Hanna) McLeod announces her passing on June 27, 2025, at the QEII Infirmary in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the age of 73.

​

Dorothy was born on May 8, 1952, in North Vancouver, BC. She lived in British Columbia until 1989, when she made the courageous cross-country move to Nova Scotia with her family. Dorothy initially made Fall River her home before settling beside a peaceful lake in Chester Grant, a place she loved dearly.

​

A dedicated mother and grandmother, Dorothy is survived by her partner of many years, John MacCormack, her son TJ (Nancy), and her beloved grandchildren Thomas, Natasha, and William. Dorothy is also survived by her brother Chris (Cheryl) Hanna of North Vancouver, BC, along with her niece Jessica and nephew Kyle.

Dorothy had a long career with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in Lunenburg, where she worked until her retirement. In her younger years Dorothy enjoyed hiking and scuba diving. She was an avid reader and puzzle solver, often challenging herself with new books and puzzles. She enjoyed walking with her friends and spending time with her fur baby, Abby, who was a constant source of joy and companionship.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember her for her warmth, kindness, and sharp mind. She was a woman who valued family above all else, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or to your local SPCA in her honour.​
