NAUGLER

The family of Cherene (pronounced Sharon) Patricia Naugler, 76, of Tanners Settlement, shares the news of her passing on Friday, August 21, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital, 

Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of Fred and Mona (Meisner) Nowe.

Cherene loved her husband, George, dearly and for over 55 years they were inseparable as a married couple, enjoying a love that was true every single day. Cherene graduated from Teacher's College in Truro and taught Bachelor of Arts at St. Anne's College. She went on to receive her Master of Education from St. Mary's and Mount St. Vincent Universities. As one who loved to learn, Cherene earned five degrees over time and knew five different languages. Her teaching career spanned over 36 years, first in Riverport, then Centre and finishing off in Bridgewater. She loved to garden and spend time playing with her dogs. She was a member of the South Shore Genealogy Society, a volunteer at the Second Story Women's Shelter, and a Representative for the Nova Scotia Teachers' Union.

Cherene is survived by her husband, George; sons, Jamie, Louisiana, USA, Randy (Amanda), Masons Beach and brother, Lynn (Mary Lou) Nowe. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Lorraine.

Arrangements are under the care of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg. At Cherene's request there will be no public service. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
