NEWELL
Edward Bruce
October 29, 2025

74, of Voglers Cove, passed away peacefully at home on October 29th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Bruce was a devoted father and grandfather, deeply cherished by his daughters Sarah (Mitchell), Angela (Jason), and Alexa (Rodney), and grandchildren Whitney, Marissa, Paidra, Chayten, Owen, Orion, Ostin, Briella, and Paislyn. He considered his nephew like a son, Matthew (Karen) and their children Jack, Zander, and Madelyn.
Born and raised in Voglers Cove, Bruce learned the value of hard work through the family business, R.E. Newell Fisheries. He had a brilliant mind and a gift for invention, later transforming the Ice House into a thriving operation and exploring aquaculture ventures.
Bruce had a lifelong love for muscle cars, mud rallies, and horses—especially his favourite, Top Gun. He was adventurous, stubborn in spirit, and always up for a challenge.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Florena, and sister Karen. Survived by siblings Brian (Jane), Isabel (Matthew), and Rosemary (Peter), and his dear friend Heather Nauss, Bruce was loved by many.
His legacy is one of kindness, curiosity, and resilience. He believed in seeing the good in people and encouraged others to “Challenge yourself.”
A Celebration of Life will be held at Voglers Cove Hall on Saturday, November 29th, 1–6 p.m.
Donations in Bruce’s memory may be made to the Voglers Cove Hall and Maggie’s Playground.
