PARRY

Alan Evan Parry, 88, of Lunenburg passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg.  

Alan is survived by his loving spouse, Susan Bullis; sons, David (Lori) Parry, Andrew Parry and Michael (Leslie) Parry, all of Edmonton, AB and grandchildren, Dylan, Hannah, Dane and Nova.  He was predeceased by his brother, David and first wife, Bernice.  

Born in Liverpool, England, he was a son of Harold and Esther Parry. He attended the University of Liverpool and received his Master’s of Civic Design in 1962.  His education was interrupted by his two years of national service as a Paratrooper (2nd Lt. 33 Para).

Alan immigrated to Canada and moved to Winnipeg in 1962 and worked as Chief Planner with the Manitoba Government and later with Underwood and McLellan.  His family moved to Edmonton in 1969, and Alan worked as Director of Planning and later Associate Superintendent of Edmonton Public Schools.  In 1981 he set up his own company and worked as a Management Consultant to all three levels of government in corporate, strategic and project planning.

In 2001, Alan and Susan moved to Lunenburg where he bought a 26-foot Contessa and enjoyed many years of sailing with family and friends.  His other passions were canoeing, fly fishing, scuba diving and riding horses.

For two years at the Mahone Bay Center, he brought in lecturers for the SCANS program and “Conversations With” which were very well received.  He also found speakers for Lunenburg’s “Chowder Lunch” program

Alan was a great storyteller and loved having “adventures” with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His love of life was infectious.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
 
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy 3, Lunenburg.  Cremation has taken place with a service to take place in Edmonton at a later date.
