RICE

Age 83, of Chester, formally of Bridgewater. It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved “Lou” on December 27, 2025, in Shoreham Village, Chester, N.S. She was a daughter of the late, Ira and Lillian (Carver) Forrest.

Lou volunteered her time at numerous organizations over the years, where she made many lasting friendships. She was a devoted wife of 50 years, and a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lou is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Wayne) Rice-Phillips; grandson, Jesse MacSwain (Jenna Cormier); great-grandson, Luke MacSwain; son, Linwood (Julie) Rice; grandson, Evan Rice (Mickelty Croft); brother, Ronald (Velda) Forrest; sister-in-law, Rosalind Rice; brother-in-law, Stanley Canning; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Lou is predeceased by her husband, Vincent Rice; sister, Joan Canning; and brothers, Jordan and Howard Forrest.

Cremation and arrangements have taken place, with no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester, N.S., in memory of Lou. A Memorial Service for Lou will be held in the Kempt Community Hall, 11783 Hwy 8, Kempt, Caledonia, Queens Co., N.S., at 1pm, January 10, 2026, with Pastor Percy Lake officiating the service. Refreshments to follow in the hall. A family burial will follow.
