RITCEY

The family of Ernest “Ernie” Reuben Ritcey, 93, of Riverport, share of his passing on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg. Born in Middle LaHave, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Bessie (Wilkie) Ritcey.

Ernie started his career working at the Bank, then moved on to become the Postmaster at Riverport for over 30 years. He was a past member of many community groups, including the Riverport and District Volunteer Fire Department. Ernie loved camping, spending many vacations at Keji. He enjoyed many sports, with curling being his favorite. His keen interest in science and outer space made for many conversations.

Ernie was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughters, Linda (Ivan) Brown, Riverport; Deborah (Tim) Dartt, Pleasant Valley; brothers, Marven (Shirley) Ritcey, Moncton and Lowell (Yvonne) Ritcey, Fancy Lake.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church, Rose Bay. The family wishes to thank all the Palliative Care staff at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg for their understanding and compassionate care.
