ROGERS

It is with regret that we announce the passing of Ann Madolyn Rogers on June 4, 2025, at age 94, while surrounded by her family. Known to most as Madolyn, Ann had a full and long life. As a child she performed in theatres around Halifax. She was particularly proud that her picture is included as a performer in a commemorative book published about the history of the Capitol Theatre. She continued as a singer and performer well into her adult life. She sang with the “Big Bands” in dance halls, such as the Olympic Gardens, Jubilee Boat Club and others, around the Halifax area in the 1940’s and 50’s then moving to smaller venues until she was in her late 70’s. She also had some radio spots on the early CBC and local stations. Artistically inclined, she also created flowered art that she sold in markets around the province.

Ann was also an avid golfer and a long-time member of the Chester Golf Club. She and her husband, Bill, competed in many amateur events around the Maritimes. She had a great love for animals and was kind to all creatures, great and small.

She is survived by her sons, Tony (Colleen), Robbie (Mary), grandchildren, Timothy and Stephen, great grandchildren Erica, Nathan and Duggan.

She was predeceased by her father Charles “Garnie” Wheeler, her mother Helen Wheeler (nee Duggan), her sister Shirley Duckworth (Roy) and her husband William “Bill” Rogers.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of  life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Dementia Research at Alzheimer.ca. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations.
