SMITH

After a life well lived and deeply loved Charlotte Lillian (Beatty) Smith passed away on March 27, 2025, surrounded by her family.


Born in Fredericton New Brunswick to Ronald and Madeline Beatty she moved to Halifax when she was 10 years old. She Graduated from Mount Saint Vincent Academy in 1958. On December 27, 1960, she married Russell Neil Smith. In 1963 they moved to Lunenburg with their children Christy and Mark.


Charlotte was an active member of Central United Church an elder, lifetime UCW member, Treasurer of UCW, Board member and choir member for 60 years. Charlotte was also a member of the Riverport and Area community Choir for over 30 years.


She was actively involved in many organizations, one near and dear to her was Lunenburg Minor Hockey where she was the secretary for 13 years. She loved Hockey! And went to the rink to watch up until a few weeks ago with her great grandson Jackson. She was a member of south shore players even joining the chorus in 2023 and performed along side her granddaughter and great granddaughter at the age of 83. Family came first with mom all three generations were like “peas in a pod”. You see one you see them all. She never missed a game, performance, or special moment.


Charlotte is survived by her daughter Christine (Morris) Corkum; son Mark (Michele) Smith; granddaughters, Brittany (Ryan) Francis, Kayla (Steve) Miller, Amy Smith; great grandchildren, Charlotte (Charlee) and Jackson Francis and Sophie and Max Miller; special nieces, Wendy (Jim) Burns and Lynne (Todd) Weagle; sisters-in-law, Marie Smith and Mabel Mills.


She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years Russell Smith and dear sister Catherine Ann Fish.


A memorial service for Charlotte was held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from Central United Church, Lunenburg. Rev. Daniel MacDonald officiated. Arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations.


Donations may by made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Central United Church, Lunenburg. The Family would like to express gratitude to the Doctors and Nurses of South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, for their kindness and care.
