February 28, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Snyder of Chelsea, Nova Scotia in his 84th year on February 28, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Pre-deceased by wife Audrey Snyder; parents, Mildred and David Snyder; brothers, Phillip Snyder and Len Snyder; and sisters, Melba Crocket and Margo Snyder. Survived by brothers Jim Snyder and Bill (Henriette) Snyder; and sister Cheryl Mansfield; stepsons Bryan (Wendy) Ferguson, Wayne (Tanja) Ferguson, and Dean (Penny) Ferguson; step grandchildren Shauna, Kelsey, Dave (Brittany), Mathew (Avril), Joseph (Carly) and Samantha; and several great grandchildren. He was a special uncle to his much-loved nieces and nephews.
Wayne was passionate about music, playing the drums, guitar and singing lead and backup vocals for various bands throughout his life. He and his bands Ramblin’ Fever and Restless Wind were local favourites, playing at the Hank Snow Tribute, the Bridgewater Exhibition and at Legion and community dances in the South Shore area.
Special thanks to his amazing palliative care team and the staff of the Acute Care Unit at South Shore Regional Hospital, his neighbours Mildred, Eric and Clayton, and his ‘angels’ Patricia, Wendy and Anne.
Cremation has taken place. Private celebration of life and burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Chelsea will take place at a later date. Donations in Wayne’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the South Shore Hospice Palliative Care Society.
