TANNER

65 of Fauxburg, NS (May. 29, 1960 – January. 2, 2026)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, son, brother. He passed away at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, NS on Jan. 2, 2026, with his sons and family by his side.

Dana was born May 29,1960 at Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, NS, to Percy and Iris (Crossland) Tanner. He grew up in Mahone Bay, NS and attended Mahone Bay Consolidated School. After graduating he furthered his education at NSCC, Bridgewater, NS where he graduated with a carpenter trade. He then began his career in the construction industry working with several companies over the years, and also worked on the construction of the present-day South Shore Regional Hospital. After years in construction, he then took his excellent carpentry skills in cabinet making, and worked for Charles Lantz Cabinetry, where his true skills shone. His large hands could make the most intricate and beautiful designs with wood.

His family will miss him dearly but will always remember him as the joker of the family, with his quick wit, sense of humour and his pranks. He had his sense of humour right to the end, giving us one last laugh. Mom will always remember him as her “Yogi bear”.

His most favourite past times were fishing and hunting, with the most memorable ones spent at Nevertell with family members.

Dana was predeceased by his father, Percy Tanner, and brother Gregory Tanner.

He is survived by his two sons, Jesse and Michael (his pride and joy), mother, Iris Tanner, Mahone Bay, NS, five sisters, Heather (Gary) Whynott of Fauxburg, NS, Cathy (Kim) Veinotte of Blockhouse, NS, Jane (Richard) Barkhouse of Blockhouse, NS, Jill (Barry) Tanner Dupuis of Mahone Bay, NS, and Belinda (Derrick) Tanner, of Mahone Bay, NS, Sister-in-law, Barbara Tanner of Fauxburg, NS and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay, NS. A heartfelt thank you to Bob for your kind words and compassion and guiding us through this difficult time.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clearland Hillside Cemetery, Clearland, NS or a charity of your choice.

Dana’s family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, NS and Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, NS. Also, a special thank you to his friend, Ron Dominix, for his friendship, caring, and visits.
