It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bren Vander Zwaag, age 54, on January 1, 2026.

With heartfelt gratitude, we thank the compassionate caregivers who supported Bren in his final journey.

We extend our sincere thanks to the staff of the QEII Emergency department, the VG 7A unit, and the Palliative Care team for your expert and deeply humane care.

We are especially grateful to Dr. Maya Elsa Kovacs and Nurse Meagen Farmer. A profound thanks to Bren's family physician, Dr. Craig Ferguson of Bridgewater, for his lifelong dedication and partnership, along with great care from Dr. Hughie Fraser of Bridgewater. We also specially recognize Palliative Care Nurse Sandie on VG 7A, whose grace brought light to our most difficult moments.
