VEINOTTE

It is with a deep sense of loss, yet immense gratitude for a long and vibrant life, that the family of Evangeline Virginia Veinotte, 95, of Deans Corner, announces her passing on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, following a brief illness.

Born in Lunenburg, Evangeline was the daughter of the late Harold and Annie (Schnare) Acker. She was a past member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lunenburg.

Evangeline was a proud and devoted lifelong homemaker, taking great pride in the warmth of her home and the care of her family. Her love of baking ensured that many holiday celebrations and family meals were enjoyed with friends and loved ones over the years, always accompanied by her famous "gift of gab" and wonderful conversation.

Her fierce independence was legendary. Never having held a driver’s license did not slow her down; she maintained a tradition of walking wherever she needed to go, often venturing into Lunenburg, particularly to Tim Hortons to join the local social scene and catch up on the day’s happenings. Evangeline enjoyed eating out, with the Docksider for a bowl of soup and the Islandview Restaurant in Western Shore for fish and chips being local favorites. She lived a healthy, full life, never needing a prescription until the age of 93, and remained happily independent in her own home until her passing. She continued to enjoy an active social calendar, including shopping trips and scenic drives with her good friend Rachel Jane (RJ) Cluett, and attending the jam sessions in Maitland with Mike Duffney.

Evangeline leaves behind her daughters, Karen Veinotte (James Hoskins) of Blockhouse and Virginia Veinotte of Bridgewater. She was the much-loved grandmother of Tabitha (Anthony) Organ, Shelley Feener, Crystal (Blake Baker) Veinotte, Brad (Lucrecia Castillo) Veinotte, Jennifer (James) Wagner, Melanie Hubley, and Adam (Angie) Hubley. She is survived by a beautiful legacy of ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sinclair Veinotte.

In keeping with Evangeline’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.

Donations in her memory to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lunenburg or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
