VEINOTTE

With great sadness, we share the loss of our dearly loved husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, Richard Joseph Veinotte of Clearland. He passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital at the age of 87, with his loving family by his side.

Richard, better known as “Buster” to his family and friends, was the youngest son of the late Solomon W. Veinotte and Elva B. (Slauenwhite) Veinotte of Oakland. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Verlene J. Veinotte, Clearland; daughters, Darlene J. Woodworth, Waterloo, NS, Patricia F. Morris (Angus) Spectacle Lakes; son, Kerry L Veinotte (Marlene) Clearland; grandchildren, Jennifer Ernst (Richard) Gail Garrard (Michael), Ryan Woodworth, Brandon Veinotte (Linda), Colby Veinotte (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Zachary and Bradyn Ernst, Landen and Hunter Woodworth, Farica and Varik Collicut, Ella and Eli Garrard and Wyatt Veinotte as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad, you will be with your beloved dog, Rascal.

Buster was a labourer all his life and worked at many odd jobs. You might say he was a Jack-of-all-Trades. He went deep-sea fishing, worked at McVay’s Shipbuilding, Pace Ships Boat Building, Eisnor's ESSO Service Station, Jenny Sandison Landscaping, a yard maintenance man, and many other odd jobs.

Buster loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and yard sale-ing. He was a collector of many things. He always said, “If you can make a dollar, why not?” His favorite pastime was trout and mackerel fishing (when the mackerel were swimming). Yes, we all know they swim. He loved to take his grandson Ryan fishing with him to see who could catch the most or the biggest fish. "Grampy, you will always be fishing."

Buster was predeceased by his parents; Solomon and Elva Veinotte; son, Craig Richard Veinotte (age 5); sisters, Jean Marlin, Tacoma, Washington, Marjorie Weaver, Lunenburg, Goldie Hacquoil, Bridgewater; brothers, Glenwood Veinotte, Clearland, Donald Veinotte, First South, Floyd Veinotte, Oakland, and Robert Veinotte (Bobby), Clearland.

Buster will be sadly missed by all his family and many friends, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place by Personal Care Cremations and Memorial Services. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. A committal of his ashes will be at a later date with his immediate family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society, Diabetes Association, IWK Children's Hospital, Hillside Cemetery in Clearland or charity of choice.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team, Dr. Michael Gibson, Paula Saile and Ashley.  The VON nurses, so many to name, staff on the 4th floor of the South Shore Regional Hospital, and anyone else we may have forgotten.
