WENTZELL

Age 69, of Lower Branch, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026, after her second battle with cancer. Born July 11, 1956, in Bridgewater, NS, she was the daughter of the late, Merle and Lillian (Mailman) Wentzell.

Christine lived her entire life in Lower Branch, in the house that was originally built by her father, in 1950. She attended a one-room school in Lower Branch before moving to West Northfield and then finishing high school in New Germany. Her working career of over 30 years was with IGA and various new ownerships the grocery store held in Bridgewater. Christine was known to be the caregiver in her family, looking after both of her parents during their last years as well as her uncles. She was also known to help the neighbours out whenever a hand was needed.

Chris’s love of day trips and travel started with her family trips. She loved visiting places she had never been, getting together at social functions, family reunions and meeting new people, and learning all about them. Several trips were made to Ontario to visit family, and a road trip to Alberta with her cousin, Gina, to attend her brother’s wedding and take a trail ride, rafting in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains while there. Her other interests were taking in the annual exhibition, genealogy, walks on the beach, jigsaw puzzles and a couple of times in recent years, helping out at the S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal yard sale.

Christine is survived by her companion of seven years, Allan Foster; brother, Kurt “Robin” Wentzell; sister-in-law, Shirley (Eskesen) Wentzell; niece, Stacey Wall; nephew, Scott Wentzell; and two great-nephews, Connor and Aiden Wall. She was predeceased by her parents.

Family flowers only please, memorial donations may be made to the V.O.N. Lunenburg Co. branch, S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter, South Shore Regional Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
