WILLIS

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of 84 year old Ethel B. Willis of Northfield, who passed away on June 24, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital.

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ethel was the daughter of the late Bertha P. (Harmon) Herman and Emerson R. Herman. She was a cherished daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Ethel was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur Raymond Willis. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rebecca (Joey) Eisnor, Elizabeth (Michael) Cluney, Ruth (Tyler) Willis, and Allen (Leslie) Willis; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her “big baby brother,” as she affectionately called him, Eugene (Sheila) Herman; and her companion of many years, Theodore Bruhm.

After completing the Nursing program at Camp Hill Hospital, Ethel began her career in Toronto, where she worked at Sunnybrook Hospital and the Crippled Children’s Hospital. Once her children were old enough to attend school, she returned to Nova Scotia and began working at Michelin in Bridgewater, where she dedicated more than 20 years of service.

In keeping with her generous spirit, Ethel donated her remains to Dalhousie University for medical research. Honouring her wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation, your local Lions Club, VON, or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to EHS, the Northfield Fire Department, and the staff of South Shore Regional Hospital for their compassionate care and support during Ethel’s final month.

Ethel will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
