It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson, 74, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Stanley N.B., she was a daughter of the late Todd and Ruth (Tomilson) Wilson. Betty grew up in North Tay, N.B, attended Stanley School and then went to U.N.B. where she received her BSc Geology. She worked as a Geologist for 7 years, then worked in Toronto for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario for 27 years. Following retirement, she moved to Lunenburg to be by the ocean. She was an active volunteer for
Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the hospital gift shop and consignment shop and Meals on Wheels. Betty enjoyed flower gardening and travelling to various countries with her family and friends.
She is survived by siblings, Judy Nicholls (John), Arthur (Carol), Janet Mosher (Mark), Robert (Erinn), Peter (Janine), Donna (David Bartlett), Charlotte Swanson (John) and sister-in-law, Shirley Wilson.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Brian.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg from where a service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00 am, Rev. Vivian Moores officiating.
A second opportunity to celebrate Betty’s life will take place at a later date in Tay Creek, N.B. with interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, South Shore Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.
